Community Of Practice: Change Leadership - Resilience When Change Is Constant: Building Change Stamina

    May 29, 2026

    9 AM - 10:30 AM – Modernwell

This event is limited to 28 participants

Change does not pause. For many of us, the pace is steady, overlapping, and relentless. In December 2025, our Community of Practice surfaced a shared reality: change saturation is real. On February 27, 2026, we built on that conversation through change measurement, exploring how we define success, track adoption, and connect change activity to outcomes.

This session continues the thread with a practical question: once we understand the pace of change and have signals about what is and isn’t working, how do we build resilience so people can sustain it?

Join the Change Leadership Community of Practice for a member-driven discussion focused on resilience in the context of change leadership. This is not a presentation. It’s a peer-led conversation where members and guests share real experiences, tools, and lessons learned to help leaders and teams stay adaptable, protect performance, and move forward without burning out.

    What we’ll explore together

    • What resilience looks like at the individual, team, and organizational level during sustained change
    • Leader behaviors that reduce fatigue and strengthen adaptability - Early warning signals that capacity is maxed out (and what to do about it)
    • Practical routines and practices that help teams recover, learn, and keep moving
    • How to build a more resilient culture without pretending the workload isn’t real

Come ready to contribute. Bring one item to share, even if it’s informal:

    • A practice that has helped your team sustain momentum through ongoing change
    • A signal you watch that tells you people are hitting a limit
    • A tool, article, book, podcast, or leader habit that has made a difference
    • A real scenario you’d like peer input on

    Why attend

If you lead, support, or influence change, resilience is not a “nice to have.” You’ll leave with practical ideas you can apply immediately and perspectives from peers across the Twin Cities who are navigating the same reality.

This program is FREE for all ATD-GTC members. Members may bring one complimentary, registered guest.

By registering for this event, you consent to the use of your image and likeness in photographs and videos taken at the event. These images may be used by ATD-GTC for promotional purposes, including but not limited to, social media, website, and printed materials.

Lead and Learn: Skills and Snacks

    June 10, 2026

    4:30 PM - 6:00 PM – Tavern on France, 6740 France Ave S, Edina, MN 55435

This event is limited to 15 participants

As organizations move toward a skills based future, learning and development professionals are being asked to play a more strategic role than ever before. From identifying the skills that matter most to keeping pace with rapid change, L&D is essential to helping employees—and organizations—stay adaptable and thrive.

Whether you're new to L&D or bring years of experience, this interactive session is designed to be a welcoming, inclusive space to connect, share insights, and learn from one another.

Together, we’ll explore three key areas shaping today’s skills conversation:

    • Identifying critical skills your organization needs now—and in the future
    • Keeping learning programs relevant as skills evolve and the half life of knowledge shortens
    • Building, measuring, and tracking skills using tools and approaches that support long-term growth

Through semi structured discussion and peer exchange, you’ll walk away with fresh ideas, practical insights, and new perspectives on how L&D can drive skill-building with purpose and impact. Join us for a thoughtful and energizing conversation about what it means to support a truly skills ready workforce.

Book Banter - Who We Become When Life Makes Other Plans by Maya Shankar

    July 14, 2026

    11:30 AM - 1:00 PM – Virtual

What happens when life makes other plans?

For our next ATD GTC Book Banter, we will discuss The Other Side of Change: Who We Become When Life Makes Other Plans. This book is about disruption, identity, resilience, and the unexpected ways change reshapes us.

From what I’ve gathered, it’s about the human side of change, like:

What gets challenged when our plans fall apart • How we adapt (or resist)

Who we become in the process

Important stuff. Whether change has recently found you through work, leadership, family, health, ambition, burnout, or simply the passage of time, this book offers a thoughtful lens on experiences most of us quietly share.

You don’t need to have every chapter finished or every insight figured out. Bring your perspective, your questions, and your curiosity.

We hope you’ll join us for a meaningful conversation with fellow ATD GTC members.

We’d love to have you there!

    Our Presenters

Benjamin Borchert is fascinated by the inner side of transformation: how people metabolize uncertainty, rebuild agency, and create meaning when life changes course unexpectedly. Recently, he's been exploring questions around intentional living, self-authorship, and what it means to move from awareness into action. This book feels especially resonant because it treats change not just as a logistical challenge, but as a deeply human and developmental experience. He's looking forward to the conversation and the perspectives others bring to it.

Getting Comfortable with the Uncomfortable in L&D Measurement

      July 23, 2026

      11:00 AM - 12:00 PM – Virtual

Many learning practitioners fail to tap into the power of analytics because of their discomfort with one or more elements associated with the measurement and evaluation process. This session will review topics like ROI, benchmarks, self-reported data, impact indicators, negative data, low impact learners, NPS, AI and roughly reasonable. The goal is to dispel the myths behind these and make what is considered uncomfortable to many comfortable and confident to all.

      Learning Objectives:

      a) Identify the elements of learning measurement that are difficult to do and discuss

      b) Understand the methods to overcome challenges in learning measurement

      c) Acquire best practices to gain confidence in applying critical learning measurement concepts

Community Of Practice: Change Leadership Resistance Is Data: What Change Leaders Do Next

      August 14, 2026

      9 AM - 10:30 AM – Modernwell

This event is limited to 28 participants

Resistance shows up in every change effort, and it rarely responds well to more force. In our December 2025 Lean Coffee, members surfaced resistance as a priority topic, alongside the realities of change saturation and the need to measure what is working. Our recent Community of Practice conversations have built a shared thread: naming the pace and load of change, strengthening how we measure progress, and exploring how leaders sustain momentum. This session continues that series by focusing on what to do when resistance shows up and progress slows.

Join the Change Leadership Community of Practice for a member-driven discussion on working with resistance in real time. This is not a presentation. It’s a peer-led conversation where participants bring practical scenarios, tools, and lessons learned. We will explore how to distinguish between types of resistance, identify what resistance is signaling, and respond in ways that build ownership rather than compliance.

      What we’ll explore together

      • What resistance typically signals (risk, capacity, trust, clarity, or misalignment)
      • Different “flavors” of resistance and why one-size responses fail
      • Practical moves for leaders and change practitioners: inquiry, listening, reframing, co-creation, reinforcement
      • How to avoid common traps: pushing harder, over-explaining, labeling people as “resistors,” or escalating conflict
      • What to measure or watch when resistance is rising (and how to course-correct)

Come ready to contribute Bring one item to share:

      • A real scenario where you’re seeing resistance now (or a recent example)
      • A tool, question set, practice, or approach that has worked for you
      • A lesson learned: what backfired, what you’d do differently, and why
      • A resource you recommend (book, podcast, article, person to follow)

      Why attend

If you lead, support, or influence change, resistance is not an exception, it’s part of the work. You’ll leave with practical approaches you can apply immediately and perspective from peers across the Twin Cities who are navigating similar dynamics.

Modernwell is a members-only coworking space. We are excited to hold our events in their beautiful space, but can not extend access beyond the event time. Once the event ends, all attendees are expected to depart the building OR they can purchase a day pass at a discounted rate of $30 for the remainder of the day.
