What Works about Virtual Work: A Conversation about Lessons Learned with Industry Experts

People around the world found ways to work from home because we had to beginning in March of 2020. Organizations that had previously felt that remote work couldn't be done successfully found ways to stay connected to employees, vendors, and even customers through innovative thinking. Did everything we tried work? Of course not! Did resilient leaders take a step back, make strategic changes, and try again? Absolutely. In this panel discussion, we're going to hear from three industry leaders who pivoted their teams to remote work environments, made critical decisions, and learned how to be successful while remaining physically separated.

Panelists and Topics:

Cindy Langanki

Cindy develops engaging in-person and online training materials on Medtronic's new medical devices for their employees and clinicians who care for patients with their products. She holds a Master’s degree from Boise State in Organizational Performance and Workplace Learning, a Bachelor’s  degree in Nursing from Minnesota State Mankato, and a  gold-level certificate in the KIrkpatrick Four Levels Certification Program.

Cindy’s topic is on how her team is coping with Covid 19’s effects on trust and communication in the workplace. She’ll share some practical tips to help you with meeting management and other workplace ideas to help with stress during Covid.

Justine Launert

Justine Launert leads the learning and development, leadership development, performance management, and philanthropic community impact programs at Code42 Software. Justine has a B.A. in psychology from UMD and an M.A. in human resources from Concordia University St. Paul. With a passion for learning, innovation, creativity, growth, and change, she thrives in the hyper-growth SaaS security software industry where fast-paced change is necessary to be successful. Integrating who she is into what she does, Justine enjoys creating meaningful experiences within strategic programs that drive business success.

Justine will be talking about intentional character consistency on and off the screen, sharing learnings from some positive examples that display consistency of an authentic interpersonal experience.

Scott Schwefel

Scott Schwefel has been teaching teams to communicate more effectively for 20 years.  He has founded and sold three businesses, and has been named to the MN Fast 50, the Inc. 5000 and the 40 under 40.  He used Insights personality profiles to help his own teams succeed, and help him be a better leader. Today Scott is the CEO of Discover Yourself and helps teams, and leaders be more self-aware, and aware of their teammates.  He has worked with over 3000 CEOs personally, and has taught in London, Paris, Kuwait, Beijing, Amsterdam, throughout North America, and he has taught nearly 100 virtual team programs in the last 6 months.

Scott will be speaking about how we build strong teams in virtual environments.  What we used to do before, what we need to unlearn about team building in a remote environment, and how team building in today’s virtual work environments can be as good or in some cases even better than what we experienced in person.
