“And the Oscars for Best Supporting Players in an e-Learning Course Goes To . . . “
Most times, when producing e-learning courses, we tend to focus on the instructional design or the e-learning authoring tool, the “stars of the production.” However, the authoring tool often cannot do it all in meeting the design; it often takes a good supporting cast to produce that “four-star” learning experience.
This presentation will be a high-level presentation and attendee discussion on that supporting cast—the hardware and supporting software and services that we use to produce our courses. We will discuss things what hardware should I use, what hardware upgrades make sense for e-learning, what software tools should I have in my toolbox to supplement the authoring tool, and what services (e.g., for clipart, graphics, templates, media and other things) should I consider using?
The goal is not to produce absolutes as solutions are often unique to the developer or the course being produced—rather, the goal is to share our observations, experiences, and resources for all to learn from. Things will also be presented as non-technical as possible for a general audience.
The presenter will generally be using Windows PCs/laptops and Articulate Storyline for some of his examples but those using Macs or other authoring tools are strongly urged to attend to share their experiences and knowledge and to help complete the discussion. The goal is to be as hardware/software agnostic as possible.
Important Note: This presentation includes an open discussion. Come prepared to share your opinions, best practices, and ideas.
Please send an email to Jay Kasdan at jkasdan@fredcomm.com if you plan on attending the session or to be added to the Training SIG email list.
