ATD Partner Chapter Event:

Evidence-Based Learning Design

How many options should a multiple choice question have? Should we encourage learners to make mistakes during training? Will decorative graphics distract from learning? And most importantly, how do we come up with answers to all these questions? Intuition? Experience? Expert opinion? Articles in TD?

In this program, I’ll introduce the concept of evidence-based learning design, which is about making design decisions through the conscientious, explicit, and judicious use of the best available evidence from multiple sources. I’ll also introduce you to learning science, an emerging cross-disciplinary field that is making important contributions to our understanding of how people really learn—not just how we think they learn.
