ATD Book Banter Community of Practice: Supercommunicators: How to Unlock the Secret Language of Connection

July 18, 2024

11:30 AM - 1:00 PM – Virtual

*You do NOT need to read the book to attend. You, your ideas, and your experiences are enough.

Supercommunicators: How to Unlock the Secret Language of Connection by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Charles Duhigg explores how to be a better listener, speaker, and social media poster. The book uses a combination of science and stories to show how to recognize and navigate three types of conversations: practical, emotional, and social. Duhigg argues that understanding and aligning with these conversation types is key to connecting with others.

The book highlights the importance of empathy, active listening, and understanding in fostering meaningful connections and effective communication. Duhigg also explores the attributes that set apart Supercommunicators, such as noticing what kind of conversation is going on, looking for clues that indicate something might be emotional or practical, and identifying someone's true feelings underneath their words.

Join us! We want to hear your perspective, and welcome you whether you’ve read the book, skimmed the book, read the chapters that interest you, read a summary, watched a YouTube summary, watched an interview with Charles Duhigg, or want to learn from your peers and share your experience. You are welcome! Please, come and share ideas, build knowledge, and make connections with each other and our work.

ATD Book Banter meets bi-monthly on the 3rd Thursday of the month.

Club meetings will last 90 minutes and start at 11:30-1:00 with time for virtual networking.

We believe learning and growing together is fun. In the sessions we will talk about a book, ideas in the book, and how those ideas apply to our work and to our lives.

Our discussion on Supercommunicators is sure to level up your communication game, and leave you with ideas to think about, and tools to try. Hope you see you there.

This program is FREE for all ATD-GTC members. Members may bring one complimentary, registered guest.
