Recognizing Anxiety and Depression in Clients – Presented by Julie Anderson, LMFT
The political climate of our times has in many cases heightened anxiety and fear in our clients. At the same time there are national media campaigns helping to increase awareness of depression and anxiety. Can you recognize depression and anxiety in your clients? If so, do you feel comfortable having the conversation around these topics? This presentation will familiarize you with the definitions, identify the signs, learn what questions to ask your clients to be productive with these sensitive issues, and gain a deeper understanding of how to help and when to refer to a counselor.
Julie Anderson is a Master’s level Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist coming and has worked in a variety of settings which include residential treatment, group therapy treatment, clinical agencies, and in the community. Julie’s clinical specialties include adults with severe persistent mental illness (SPMI), pre- and post-marriage education, and relationship dynamics. Julie endorses a holistic, emotionally-focused, experiential, systemic approach to therapy that validates her clients’ past and current experiences, family-of-origin history and influence, as well as attachment-based relationship models to help strengthen and grow her clients’ current relationships.
